The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Ishaq Yunusa, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway.
The attack occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, around Ojuwo Olijo in Ofu Local Government Area, when armed assailants reportedly emerged from the surrounding bush and opened fire on motorists. (The Papers Nigeria)
According to the Kogi State Police Command, a blue Toyota Corolla was later found abandoned along the highway, with Yunusa, who was driving the vehicle, found dead inside. Another occupant of the vehicle was reportedly abducted and taken into the surrounding bush. (The Papers Nigeria)
The police said security operatives have commenced a search of the surrounding forest in an effort to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
