The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, to Benue State for her official visit focused on the Renewed Hope Initiative empowerment programme and other developmental engagements.
Senator Tinubu, who is also the National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, arrived in the state on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, where she was received by Governor Alia, government officials, women groups, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
The visit is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s commitment to empowering women, strengthening families, and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.
During her stay in Benue, the First Lady is expected to engage with beneficiaries of the initiative and participate in key state activities, including the commissioning of completed infrastructure projects in Makurdi and the Community ICT Centre in Ihugh.
Governor Alia described the visit as a reflection of the strong partnership between the Federal and Benue State Governments in advancing programmes that improve the lives of citizens, particularly women and young people.
The Governor also expressed appreciation to Senator Tinubu for choosing Benue as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s intervention drive, noting that the visit would further strengthen development efforts and create more opportunities for the people of the state.
Meanwhile, residents and various support groups across Benue have continued to express excitement over the visit, describing it as an opportunity to showcase the warmth, unity, and hospitality of the Benue people.
