Doctors, nurses, food, medical tests, drugs and sanitary pads provided as residents turn out for Amb. Lilian Adoyi’s community health outreach

OTUKPO, BENUE | The Olo’hi’ Ga Eh Foundation on Saturday brought free healthcare and welfare support closer to residents of Otukpo as beneficiaries turned out in large numbers for a community health outreach organised under the leadership of Amb. Lilian Adoyi.
The programme, held at the Olo’hi’ Ga Eh Foundation Office opposite Access Bank, Otukpo, began with the arrival of doctors, nurses and other members of the medical team, who prepared the various stations and equipment ahead of the arrival of beneficiaries.
As the medical personnel settled in, residents began arriving at the venue. Men, women, young people and families gradually filled the premises, creating a lively atmosphere as volunteers moved to organise the growing crowd.
The process was carefully structured, beginning with registration. Participants were registered and issued access cards, which guided them through the different stages of the outreach and helped the organisers maintain an orderly flow of beneficiaries.
While waiting for their turn for medical examination and testing, participants were provided with gruel, malt and water. The provision of refreshments helped make the waiting period more comfortable and ensured that those who had arrived early were catered for while the medical activities continued.
The beneficiaries were subsequently moved through the various medical stations, where doctors and nurses attended to them. Blood pressure and blood sugar checks were conducted, alongside malaria and typhoid tests and eye screening, among other healthcare services provided during the exercise.
Medical personnel also listened to the health concerns of beneficiaries, conducted examinations and offered professional guidance. Those who required medication were given drugs and appropriate instructions following their examination and test results.
The Foundation also ensured that beneficiaries were not left without food after receiving medical attention, with food provided as part of the day’s welfare support.
Another significant part of the outreach was the distribution of sanitary pads to teenage girls and middle-aged women. Beneficiaries came forward to receive the sanitary products, which formed part of the Foundation’s effort to support vulnerable women and girls with practical welfare needs.
The sanitary pad distribution added a strong humanitarian dimension to the medical exercise, particularly for young girls who may face challenges accessing menstrual hygiene products.
From the arrival of the medical team to the registration of beneficiaries, collection of access cards, provision of refreshments, medical testing, consultation, medication, food distribution and the presentation of sanitary pads, the outreach was organised as a comprehensive community support programme.
For the residents who attended, it was more than an opportunity to receive free medical services. It was a demonstration that healthcare, dignity and basic welfare can be brought directly to the doorstep of the people.
Through the Olo’hi’ Ga Eh Foundation, Amb. Lilian Adoyi’s “Health Is Wealth” initiative provided residents of Otukpo with access to basic healthcare and welfare support, reinforcing the message that caring for the health and wellbeing of the people remains an important part of community development.
