The Executive Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Council, Hon. Adole O.J. Gabriel, has expressed profound grief and heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Ardo-Risku Mohammed and his associate, Yakubu Isah, who were assassinated in a deadly ambush on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Ockwudu, Ugboju, in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.The tragic incident, which has sent shockwaves across the entire Benue South Senatorial District and beyond, has left the entire communities devastated.
The gruesome killing of the two respected individuals has once again raised serious concerns over the worsening state of insecurity in the region.In a statement issued by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adole described the incident as heartbreaking, abominable, and a painful reminder of the fragility of human life.”The ugly news of the gruesome assassination of Alhaji Ardo-Risku Mohammed remains difficult to comprehend.
His untimely death is not only a great loss to his immediate family but also a devastating blow to our people. It reminds us all of the emptiness and uncertainty of life.Although Alhaji Ardo, despite given birth to at Ofiloko-Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area, his humility, generosity, and remarkable human relations endeared him to people across virtually every community in Ohimini Local Government. His bridges of friendship, promoted peaceful coexistence, irrespective of ethnic or political affiliations.
In view of this painful tragedy, I have resolved, alongside my colleague, the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Hon. Maxwell Ogiri, to ensure that every lawful effort is made to support security agencies in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous and senseless act to justice. Those responsible for this evil must not be allowed to escape the full weight of the law.”Hon. Adole further called on all security agencies operating within Benue State to immediately intensify investigations into the incident and deploy every available resource towards identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting those responsible for the dastardly act.
He stressed that the continued loss of innocent lives to criminal violence is unacceptable and urged security operatives to strengthen intelligence gathering, increase surveillance, and reinforce security presence across vulnerable communities to prevent future occurrences.
The Executive Chairman also appealed to residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperate fully with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations, while resisting every temptation to take the law into their own hands.
Hon. Adole prayed for God’s comfort upon the bereaved families and associates during this moment of immeasurable sorrow.
He asked the Almighty to grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed and give their loved ones the strength to bear the painful and irreparable loss.
