The Okpokwu Local Government Council strongly condemn the unprovoked attack on the people of Okpafie in Edumoga and Aidogodo in Okpoga, which resulted in the tragic loss of two respected members of our communities.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and appeal to the people of Okpafie and Aidogodo to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies continue their investigations.
Preliminary reports indicate that Okpafie community in Okonobo, Edumoga, came under attack after armed cattle rustlers invaded the village. Security agencies have been directed to pursue all those responsible. So far, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
We assure our people that we will not rest until every perpetrator of this heinous crime is identified, arrested, and brought to justice.
To prevent further attacks, additional security personnel have been deployed to monitor and secure all cattle routes across the local government area. We urge residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious movements or activities.
Together, we will continue to work to restore peace, protect lives and property, and ensure that justice is served.
