The political landscape in Ohimini Local Government Area appears to be entering a defining chapter ahead of the 2027 general elections, as three prominent political figures, Sunny Mark, Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi Ofiebor, and Andrew Agbo Abu, have reportedly adopted a common position urging their supporters to reject any State House of Assembly candidate they believe worked against the collective interest of the Ohimini people.

The decision followed a closed-door consultation involving the trio, all of whom emerged as major contenders for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency before the party’s nomination process.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, the leaders expressed disappointment over what they described as the collapse of the expected democratic primary election, insisting that party members were denied the opportunity to choose their candidate through a transparent voting process. They maintained that the outcome not only disappointed aspirants but also weakened the long-standing aspiration of Ohimini to produce the next representative for the federal constituency.

The leaders are said to have concluded that the events surrounding the nomination process exposed individuals from within Ohimini who allegedly abandoned the community’s collective political interest in favour of personal alliances and ambitions.
Their message to supporters was said to be direct and uncompromising.
Those who allegedly frustrated the Ohimini Agenda, they argued, should not expect political support from the same people whose aspiration they worked against.

Rather than investing political energy in candidates perceived to have betrayed the local government’s quest for equitable representation, the trio reportedly resolved to begin consultations aimed at identifying credible leaders who genuinely represent the interests and aspirations of Ohimini people.

Political observers believe the development may significantly reshape campaigns for the Benue State House of Assembly seat in Ohimini, where endorsements from influential grassroots leaders often determine electoral momentum.
The position also signals a broader political strategy beyond the federal constituency, suggesting that loyalty to the Ohimini Agenda may become a deciding factor in future endorsements across elective positions.

Sunny Mark, founder of the SunnyMarks Foundation, has earned recognition through humanitarian interventions, educational support programmes, youth empowerment initiatives and community development projects across the constituency. His grassroots network has continued to expand through years of philanthropic engagement.

Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi Ofiebor, founder of the Ogayilolo Women Movement and the Olohi Gaeh Movement, has become one of the most visible female political mobilisers in the constituency. She is widely associated with women empowerment, community advocacy, youth inclusion and the campaign for equitable political representation for Ohimini.

Andrew Agbo Abu, MNCS, MCPN, CDPO, founder of the O’TOLE BI Initiative, is regarded by many young voters as a voice for innovation and progressive leadership. His political engagements have focused on technology-driven governance, security reforms, youth development and sustainable community growth.

Although each aspirant pursued the House of Representatives ticket independently, political analysts say their united front may become one of the most influential political alliances within Ohimini as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.

The alliance is expected to deepen ongoing debates surrounding zoning, equity, internal party democracy and political inclusion within the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency.

While supporters of the three leaders have welcomed the declaration as a defence of Ohimini’s collective interest, critics argue that the unfolding political contest should remain focused on issues, competence and the democratic choice of voters.

As of the time of filing this report, none of the individuals alleged by the aspirants to have worked against the Ohimini Agenda had publicly responded to the claims.
